6 Tips to Increase User Engagement on Facebook

6 Tips to Increase User Engagement on Facebook (1)

Post New Updates Monday Through Thursday

According to a study conducted by Optimizely, the best time to post updates on Facebook is between Monday and Thursday. This is when the most users are online, meaning more people will see your posts. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should avoid posting new content on Friday through Sunday, but rather the bulk of your efforts should be centered around Monday through Thursday for maximum visibility to increase user engagement.

Double-Check Embedded Images When Posting Links

Facebook will automatically pull and embed a thumbnail image when you post a link. Anytime you post a URL into the Facebook status box, it will include a thumbnail. But there are times when this feature may not work as intended, omitting the image altogether. In cases such as this, you can manually upload the image by clicking the “Image” button at the top of the post box. Be sure the embedded image is displaying properly when posting links, and if it’s not, manually upload the image.

Ask a Question

If you really want to boost user engagement with your Facebook posts, try asking a question – or even taking a poll. Questions trigger a visceral response in users, forcing them to stop and think of the answer. Therefore, posting questions on your Facebook page will attract more comments from your followers.

Target Your Posts

Did you know that you can target specific groups of people with your Facebook posts? This is done by clicking Settings > and then ticking the box labeled “Post Targeting and Privacy.” Once enabled, you can target your Facebook ads based on demographics like age, gender, interests, location and more. Just click the “Add Targeting” option at the bottom left corner of your posts before publishing them.

Engage With Other Business Pages

Try commenting and liking posts made by other businesses and brands on Facebook. Assuming they are relevant to your own business, this can attract more followers to your page while increasing engagement in the process.

Facebook Ads

The social media network has slowly been edging business owners to use its paid advertising service. Just last year, Facebook announced that it was limiting the number of promotional posts that appear in users’ feeds. So if you’re a business owner who uses Facebook to promote products or services, consider using Facebook Ads.
