I admit it – the thought of posting a video on my website is a daunting task. I know it’s necessary and I recommend it to my clients, but why is it important?
A video grabs the viewer’s attention immediately. The sheer number of YouTube videos my son watches convinces me that this statement is true. I, too, will click on a video if I know that it’s going to be funny or informative and preferably less than 5 minutes long (unless it’s an instructional video).
Establishes a Connection
Watching a video is almost like having a conversation with someone – it’s easier to connect with the person because of the emotion and feeling apparent in their facial expressions and tone of voice.
Addresses Multiple Learning Styles
People have different learning styles and video can address multiple modalities whether someone learns best by hearing information or seeing a visual representation.
One of the easiest ways to get a boost on organic search is to upload a video to YouTube, use relevant keywords in the filename, video title, description and tags.
