How to Enhance Your Social Media Content

How to Enhance Your Social Media Content

Strong content is the driving force behind every successful brand’s social media presence. Without content, there’s no reason for people to follow or “like” your page. So, what can you do to enhance your content on social media and attract more followers?

Post During the Weekdays

Want to know the best time to publish new content on social media? Contrary to what some people may believe, it’s not the weekend, but rather the weekdays. Numerous studies have shown that social media content receives a higher level of engagement when published on Monday-Friday. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should avoid publishing new content on the weekends, but rather focus the bulk of your content on the weekdays for best results.

Go Beyond Text

There’s no rule – written or unwritten – stating that you must only publish text content to your social media pages and profiles. While text is certainly a viable option, there are alternative types of content available, such as images, video and links. Diversifying your content strategy with several different types of content will allow you to reach a broader audience, which should prove useful in attracting new followers.

Encourage Followers to Submit Content

Another way to generate fresh, “unique” content on social media is to ask your followers to submit content of their own. If you operate a website/online business that’s centered around dog training, for instance, then perhaps you can ask followers to submit photos of their dogs. You can even go one step further by hosting a contest in which a single submission as chosen as the winner, rewarding the user with a free gift.

Note: if you plan on hosting a contest on Facebook, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with its guidelines (found here). Failure to abide by the network’s rules could result in your contest, and/or Page, being shut down without notice.

@Mentions and #Hashtags

Try to get into the habit of using @mentions and #hashtags when publishing new content on social media. Both Facebook and Twitter support the use of mentions and hashtags, making this a simple yet effective way to increase the visibility of your content.

Share Existing Content

Of course, you can also share content posted by other users. On Facebook, for instance, you can search for relevant content that has a high number of likes, shares and comments, sharing it on your own page. If a particular story is being shared by many users, there’s a good chance that your followers will respond strongly to it.
