4 Tips for Creating Engaging Content on Facebook

October 1, 2013 By Kelly Butcher Leave a Comment

I’m always trying to find out how to improve my relationship with my social media audience.  One way to do this is to look at how other companies encourage engagement.

Case Study:  One company that seems to have quite a bit of engagement is HubSpot.  So, I set out to review recent Facebook posts to determine what they do to encourage their followers to comment on posts and build relationships with their audience.

Type of Business:  According to the HubSpot Facebook page, HubSpot is all-in-one inbound marketing software that helps businesses generate more leads online.

1.  Post content that is helpful and useful to the target market.

I noticed that posts consist of a variety of helpful and useful information to help their target market businesses succeed.  Not every post is about HubSpot and what HubSpot can do for your business.   Posts include free marketing tips, relevant information related to Google, Facebook and Pinterest , just to name a few, and links to how-to videos.

2.  Ask compelling questions.

HubSpot asks compelling marketing questions or poses fill-in-the-blank statements for their audience.   Followers are asked to comment and then, may click on a link to see how they did.  If they click on the link, they are taken to a page on the Hubspot website with the option to enter contact information and the chance to test marketing knowledge.  What a great way to drive traffic to your website!

3.  Post images or infographics.

Images and infographics are eye-catching because they are colorful and draw the reader’s attention to the post.  Infographics are especially engaging because not only do they provide visual interest, but also provide helpful information.

4.  Post humorous or “what’s the caption” type posts.

Mix in posts that are not strictly business such as humorous posts, “what’s the caption”  with an image, or cartoons.  These help break up the monotony of the business day and can let the personality of the business shine through.

If you’re looking to increase engagement on Facebook and other social media sites, I suggest that you connect with HubSpot and see what they have to offer.  If you’d like help with managing your social media accounts, give me a call at 512.779.5626 or email me at Kelly@SimplificationServices.com so we may discuss how I may be able to help you!
